GymCo, the Belfast-based gym company, have won the Deep River Rock Belfast City Marathon Corporate Partnership Award for their work with learning disability charity Mencap NI. GymCo recruited 125 members from their gyms in Finaghy and Cityside Shopping Centre to form relay teams for the Marathon in May 2018, to raise money for Mencap.
Jim Conlon, director of the JDM Group, who own GymCo said “We are delighted to have worked with such a fantastic charity as Mencap and to contribute to their £65,000 total in this year’s marathon to help people with a learning disability. Everyone at GymCo is proud to support Mencap’s work. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our members for taking part in the event, and helping us win this award.”
GymCo recruited well known sports people to support Mencap, such as boxing Commonwealth Gold Medallist, Paddy Barnes, boxers Ryan Burnett and Padraig McCrory. Tiffany Brien, former Miss Northern Ireland and GymCo member used her large social media following to help Mencap recruit 1,100 runners for the Deep River Rock Belfast City Marathon.

The £65,000 raised overall from the 2018 Belfast City Marathon will help children and families in their early years, support adults into employment and help people to live independently for the first time.”
