Whiskey is typically one of those topics reserved for purists.
Yet, ‘It’s not just your Da’s drink anymore’, the brazen slogan of Belfast Whiskey Week, suggests otherwise. The event’s aim is to unite whiskey fans new and old throughout the world via their virtual whiskey festival taking place between the 23rd – 31st July.
With up to 65 whiskey brands joining in and tickets already sold beyond Belfast to Australia, Argentina and more – the eight day event promises to provide insight into the world of whiskey like never before.
Tasting sessions, debates and masterclasses are accompanied by corresponding vials of liquid magic and a matching Belfast Whiskey Week glass – all sent out in smart boxes to ticketholders in anticipation of the one of a kind event. Those living in Northern Ireland also have the opportunity to attend in person for sessions held at The Duke of York, Hinch Distillery and Maddens Bar to name a few.
Whether you’re a single malt maverick, or still trying to get past that first sip shudder – there’s something for everyone at what will be the world’s largest Irish whiskey festival. Try your hand at some potent Killowen Poitin or drool over donut, chocolate and ribs pairings.
The best thing about this festival? You don’t need to have an nauseating knowledge of whiskey or mahogany library to take part – so you can retire the Zoom green screen for now.
