Arup, Edwards & Co, Secure Broadcast and The Consumer Council take top spots
Around 100 companies in Northern Ireland took part in Translink’s #GetOnBoardNI Corporate Challenge during Bus + Train Week 2018 and today four organisations have been officially recognised as the winners.
Arup has been named the overall 2018 Corporate Challenge Champion, following its efforts to encourage employees to leave the car at home and ease congestion in the city by taking the bus or the train. Arup tracked more than 100 employee journeys, travelling a total of 2230 miles by public transport throughout the week and has been awarded the coveted Corporate Challenge trophy along with the Best Large Organisation prize. Other winners included Edwards & Co for Best Small Organisation, Secure Broadcast for Best Creative Organisation and The Consumer Council for Public Sector Champion.

“It was great to see so many industries and businesses in Northern Ireland make the smart move and take up the Corporate Challenge during Bus + Train Week 2018. The campaign encouraged employees who travel by car every day to give public transport a go instead and enjoy all the lifestyle benefits it offers from more ‘me time’ on board the bus and train to cost savings on fuel and car-parking. This year’s winning organisations demonstrated a real commitment to use public transport and we enjoyed finding out about their creative tactics to keep employees engaged!
“An extra 229,000 passenger journeys were made throughout the 2018 Bus + Train Week campaign and we would like to thank all of the businesses who helped make that possible – we now hope they’ll take part in next year’s challenge!”

The challenge was part of Translink’s annual Bus + Train Week, an initiative which highlights the importance of public transport and the vital role it plays in the success of Northern Ireland supporting economic growth and social inclusion while delivering energy efficiency and ‘low carbon’ mobility.
