Belfast City Centre Management, which is a participant in the Police-led multi-agency response to the flood threat, has announced the following information with regard to the City Centre:
Temporary flood defenses in the form of sandbags are in place at both the Clarendon Street/Dock Street junction, and at the Dock Street/Nelson Street junction. These will serve to provide extra protection for the City Centre. Traffic diversions will be in place.
A reduced risk of flooding is now being reported for the city centre area and Victoria Square area of Belfast. The Victoria underground car park is been closed as a precaution and we would encourage people to not park in any other underground carparks in the area. Whilst the risk for this area is reduced, we would encourage people to exercise caution and listen to media updates.
If necessary an additional information centre will be available in the Ulster Hall.
We are told to expect further high tides to create potential flood risks around midday on Sunday and Monday. Further updates will be issued in due course.
Belfast City Centre Management will use their text alert system, alongside social media platforms to update city centre businesses on further information.
