Celebrating all things ‘country’, the Irish Game Fair, Ireland’s largest game fair and country sports event returns to Shanes Castle, Antrim, on Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th June.
Tens of thousands of visitors annually descend on the stunning Lough-shore location for this premier showcase of huntin’ shootin’ and fishin’ sports and country lifestyles.
The Irish Game Fair is designed as a wonderful family event for those who live, work or play in the Irish countryside and the 2015 Fair is shaping up to one of the best yet.
The Northern Ireland Angling Show, introduced last year, makes a welcome return along with the ever-popular attractions of the Fine Food Festival and three arenas of entertainment, including the visual spectacles of a Living History Viking encampment and medieval jousting.
Looking forward to Ireland’s largest Game Fair coming to Shanes Castle in June, Great Game Fairs Director Albert Titterington said, “Visitors to our show will be spoilt for choice. The main arena plays host to a rich mix of rural, country sports and living history spectacles including gundog demonstrations, and the castle’s ruins is the perfect setting to enjoy historical re-enactments: this year’s will portray the Battle of Antrim. Set amongst the ever-expanding tented trade village, the Fine Food Festival then provides the chance to savour the flavours of the countryside…including the Lough Neagh delicacy, eels; and where award-winning chef Emmett McCourt will be on hand to show you how to cook them.
“The Irish Game Fair is a showcase of country pastimes, conservation and the rural way of life, including shooting competitions and international canine competitions. And now, thanks to the introduction of the Angling Show, for those who want to get into angling, APGAI Ireland guides will be on hand as part of the to show the public you how to tie a fly and how to cast one.”
