Claire Hall is the new face of Culture Night Belfast (CNB) in her new role as Cathedral Quarter Trust Events and Projects Manager, taking over from current CNB Manager Kerry Rooney, who is stepping down after two successful years at the helm.

Claire Hall - New CNB head 2

Claire brings with her over a decade’s worth of experience, both as a practicing Artist and Managerial roles, including Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival, Outburst Arts, SARC and AVA Festival.

Claire joins the CQ Trust after five years at The MAC, Belfast where, as events officer, she was directly responsible for building the Events and Business Development department into a thriving income generator for the flagship arts venue as well as roles in producing and programming with the Live Events Programme.

Since 2014, Claire has also been leading a not-so-secret double life as DJ and Events Producer “Venus Dupree”; with Arts Council Research residencies in both Berlin and New York. She is also co-founder of GIRL a DJ collective that offers workshops to female and Queer identified aspiring DJs and hosts her own monthly radio show Night Flight to Venus.

Claire said she was looking forward to steering Culture Night in “exciting new directions and into the next decade”.

“Culture Night Belfast is a huge deal for the city and for Northern Ireland and I’m hugely excited to be joining this fantastic team. I’m brimming with ideas and excited to be able to bring my vision to the most hotly anticipated event in the city’s cultural life. As Culture Night begins its second decade, I’m looking forward to refocusing our commitment to shining a light on the cultural riches that Belfast has to offer and letting the public experience them first hand. Not just the big stuff, but the art and culture that goes on in the cracks and corners of this city of ours also. We have so much to celebrate here, and I can’t wait to get stuck into the role!”

After two successful years in the role, outgoing CNB Manager Kerry Rooney said:

“I am immensely grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of the Culture Night Belfast story. I have worked with some incredible organisations and artists and witnessed first-hand the amazing talent, creativity and energy that flows through our city. I am very pleased to be able to hand the reigns to Claire. Her knowledge and experience will be huge assets to the organisation and I look forward to seeing her put her own stamp on the biggest event of the year!”

CQ Trust Director Susan Picken said:

“We’re sorry to lose Kerry, after two years of excellent work with Culture Night, but we’re also very excited to have Claire on board. She’s an impressive and fantastically dynamic individual full of bold ideas, bursting with creativity and infectious enthusiasm. As Culture Night becomes a two-day event for the first time in its 11 year history, we can think of no better person to lead CNB into a thrilling new future full of thrilling possibilities!”
