Open+Direct Insurance has pledged its support for Downtown Radio and Cool FM’s Cash for Kids festive “Mission Christmas” toy campaign.
The local insurance company is helping to ‘insure’ that disadvantaged children from across NI will wake up to a gift on Christmas morning with all of its 12 branches, including the Belfast branch acting as a ‘drop off’ point for this year’s appeal.
Last year saw 6,334 children in Northern Ireland receive a parcel of gifts thanks to Mission Christmas – but organisers hope to help even more children this Christmas.
John Laverty, Retail Network Manager at Open + Direct said:
“We are delighted to participate in the Mission Christmas appeal and are really happy to be supporting the campaign. It directly helps children in our local community in a very positive way and we think it’s something that really resonates with our customers. So when you are doing your Christmas shopping, why not buy an extra gift to help a local child have a better Christmas!”
Andrea Charles, Cash for Kids Charity Manager added:
“The facts paint a worrying and stark picture about poverty in our community. Our mission at Cash for Kids is to help these vulnerable young people, many of whom will wake up to nothing on Christmas morning without our help.
“Last year we distributed gifts to over 6000 children – which was fantastic – but the need is greater than ever this Christmas. We would encourage everyone to support those less fortunate than themselves by buying an extra gift this year and dropping it in to their nearest drop off point.”
