The first trailer for the forthcoming series of The Apprentice has surfaced online, paying a cheeky homage to the James Bond movie Goldfinger.
The minute-long clip features Lord Sugar unsuspectingly foisting his infamous ‘firing finger’ on a woman with a dog, waiter, an antiques dealer and his sidekicks Karren Brady and Nick Hewer – as the Shirley Bassey theme song is heard in the background.
And at one point a gold statue appears to come to live, telling Lord Sugar, ‘thank you for the opportunity’ in the downcast voice of someone who has been given their marching orders from the boardroom.
Another scene sees Brady react in horror to the mogul’s apparent pointing finger, as Hewer dives in front of her in the manner of someone defending her from a bullet.
No date has yet been given for the start of the new series, although Lord Sugar has hinted on his Twitter page that it will be sooner rather than later.
The new series will be its ninth, with Sugar confirming in 2012 that the show would run for at least another two years.
