Everything really is coming up roses at Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park as it gears itself up for the thousands of visitors expected Rose Week from Monday 15 to Sunday, 21 July.

Getting ahead of the crowd Miss Northern Ireland, Meagan Green, joined Councillor Gareth McKee at the park to launch the event.

Besides the fragrant surroundings free family fun will be on offer, including music and entertainment, street entertainers and games.

“Parents often looking for free ways of entertaining children in the holidays and this offers a range of things to keep them happy. While the younger people play older visitors can enjoy the views, potter about the stalls or be as active as they like.

“We regularly have visitors from across the world, including the International Rose Judges who will attend on Thursday, 18 July when the winners of the competition roses will be decided.”

A flower show and craft stalls will also be available during the weekend of the event, Saturday 20 and Sunday 21. Everyday will have a different musical sound to it with ariations including harp, metal technology, accordion, brass and concert flute bands, swing, pop and Irish traditional music.
