Belfast’s Chris Taplin Blues Band Confirmed As Support For Blues Sensation Aaron Keylock

Belfast’s own Chris Taplin Blues Band have been confirmed as support for teenage guitar sensation Aaron Keylock meaning blues fans will have the chance to see two young outstanding talents at the Black Box on Saturday, June 30th as part of the Belfast City Blues Festival.

In a marriage of guitar excellence, the night will see some of the most outstanding young players across these islands.

The 26-year-old Chris Taplin says he is excited at the prospect of sharing the stage with Keylock.

“I think Aaron is a fantastic player and like me it’s great to see young players into the blues,” he said.

“The Belfast City Blues Festival is extremely important as they connect young people to the blues. As soon as they hear it they have a link with every aspect of the blues.

“This year I hope many young people can witness younger players like myself and Aaron and also hear the older generation of players.”

Like Aaron Keylock Chris has been playing from a young age, having picked up his first six-string when he was merely six after hearing tapes of Chuck Berry and Stevie Ray Vaughn

Keylock has earned rave reviews for his ‘Cut Against The Grain’ album, and wowed crowds at top UK festivals such as Ramblin Man Fair.

With not only a feel for the blues, but tapping into rock, his performances are electrifying, brimming with passion, oozing feel as he takes his six-string histrionics that only a genuine player can.

Belfast City Blues Festival Director, Seamus O’Neill said that the teen sensation is a mark of what the festival can attract for fans.

“As we celebrate our 10th Anniversary I was delighted that we have added Aaron Keylock to our already burgeoning line-up,” he said. “Aaron is a unique talent. It’s no wonder that a prestigious label signed him, but whether it is the Blues Magazine, or Kerrang they all agree he is a special performer.

“And with the Chris Taplin Blues Band confirmed this is going to be a night to remember.”

Keylock himself said he was looking forward to playing Belfast.

“Belfast has such a rich musical history I can’t wait to play the Blues Festival – see you all in the Black Box!”

Belfast City Blues Festival is sponsored by American Holidays in partnership with Brand USA and United Airlines.
