Belfast Harbour has set sail with The Prince’s Trust for the sixth consecutive year, with their continuing support of the Fairbridge Programme.

To celebrate the sponsorship and to showcase the thriving business world at the heart of the Port, Belfast Harbour took the latest intake of Fairbridge students on an exclusive Pilot boat tour.

With the support of Belfast Harbour, the programme works to grow the confidence and skills of 16-25-year olds by creating individually tailored personal development courses. Touring the harbour from the vantage point of the pilot boat, students had the chance to see first-hand the future employment opportunities within the booming industries of the Belfast Harbour estate.

Speaking of the sponsorship, Jenni Barkley, Communications and Corporate Responsibility Manager for Belfast Harbour said:

“Belfast Harbour is delighted to be involved with The Prince’s Trust for another year and looks forward to helping these young people enhance their skills, develop their confidence and transform their lives. Our support extends to the Achieve and Fairbridge programmes helping young people to fulfil their potential and showing them the future opportunities that are available to them is of utmost importance.  Belfast Harbour is committed to supporting individual’s transition into work and enabling them to get basic English and Maths is the first step in their journey.

More than 23,000 people come to work in the Harbour Estate every day, across a host of disciplines and we wanted to showcase the diversity of work in Belfast Harbour, highlighting the many industries, employers and experiences that are available to these students.”

Ian Baxter-Crawford, Communications and Marketing Manager for The Prince’s Trust added:

“With the continued support of Belfast Harbour, we look forward to delivering another successful Fairbridge programme with The Prince’s Trust. In the past year alone, The Prince’s Trust has helped more than 7,000 young people across Northern Ireland, with over 80% of those transitioning into jobs, education and training.  Without the devoted help of Belfast Harbour, we wouldn’t be able to offer our programmes and services to so many disadvantaged young people. The Pilot boat trip was a unique way of telling the Belfast Harbour story to our students and showing them that their future is bright. As the harbour continues to grow and bring new investment and development to the city of Belfast so too do our students, as they invest in themselves and develop themselves for future endeavours.”

Belfast Harbour are one of the key sponsors of The Prince’s Trust in Northern Ireland. The Prince’s Trust work with thousands of young people across Northern Ireland each year, providing them with the tools they need to succeed.
