The Teal Army will welcome the Giants home this weekend as Adam Keefe’s side face Dundee Stars on Saturday before taking on Fife Flyers on Sunday.
Competitive ice hockey returns to The O2 Belfast this weekend as the Belfast Giants prepare for two Challenge Cup contests in the space of 24 hours.
The Giants will face Dundee Stars at 7pm on Saturday 19 September, before returning to the ice against Fife Flyers at 5pm on Sunday 20 September.
Saturday’s meeting with Dundee will be the Giants’ first competitive home game of the 2026/27 season, giving the Teal Army its first opportunity to welcome the defending champions back to Belfast.
Both fixtures form part of the Challenge Cup group stage, meaning valuable points will be at stake throughout a busy weekend at The O2 Belfast.
Giants return home with maximum points
Adam Keefe’s team could hardly have asked for a stronger start to the new competitive season.
The Giants opened their Challenge Cup campaign with an impressive 4–1 victory over Dundee Stars at Dundee Ice Arena last Saturday.
Nicolas Guay opened the scoring before Mason Klee marked his competitive debut with an outstanding finish from the blue line. Patrick Guay added Belfast’s third goal, with Scott Conway completing the scoring during the final period.
The Giants then travelled to Braehead Arena, where they recovered from two goals down to defeat Glasgow Clan 3–2 following a shootout.
Conway scored twice to bring Belfast level before JJ Piccinich converted the only successful attempt of the shootout. Netminder Jake Kupsky stopped all three of Glasgow’s efforts to complete a memorable comeback and secure a four-point opening weekend.
The Giants now return home with confidence, momentum and an opportunity to strengthen their position in the Challenge Cup.
Saturday: Belfast Giants versus Dundee Stars
Dundee will arrive in Belfast looking for a response after losing the opening meeting between the teams.
The Stars created chances during last weekend’s contest and were denied on several occasions by Giants netminder Jackson Whistle. Keaton Jameson scored Dundee’s only goal of the evening, reducing the deficit to 3–1 before Conway made the result safe for Belfast.
However, Saturday’s return fixture will be played in very different surroundings.
A packed Teal Army, the noise inside The O2 Belfast and the excitement surrounding the first competitive home game of the campaign should create a special atmosphere.
The Giants will want to reproduce the pace and attacking pressure that caused Dundee so many problems in Scotland, while the visitors know they must contain Belfast’s dangerous forward lines more effectively.

Sunday: Belfast Giants versus Fife Flyers
The action continues on Sunday when Fife Flyers visit Belfast for a 5pm face-off.
Fife began their Challenge Cup campaign with a victory over Dundee, underlining the competitive nature of the Scottish group and setting up an intriguing Sunday contest.
The Flyers traditionally provide physical, committed opposition and the second game of a double-header can test a team’s fitness, concentration and squad depth.
Keefe may need to make full use of his roster across the weekend, particularly if Saturday’s game develops into an intense, high-tempo contest.
For supporters, Sunday’s earlier face-off offers another family-friendly opportunity to experience live ice hockey in Belfast.
