The Stena Line Belfast Giants made it two Challenge Cup wins in-a-row as Michael Forney scored the game winner and Stephen Murphy turned away 19 shots in a 3-1 victory over the Edinburgh Capitals. The Giants led 2-0 until the 59th minute, when Jared Stall pulled one back for the visitors, only for Steve Saviano to seal the home win at 59:48 with an empty net finish.
The opening period was a scoreless one with the Giants forcing the play for the majority of the opening 20 minutes, outshooting their opponents 12-6.

The Capitals outshot the Giants 9-5 in the third and final period as they went in search of a goal that would bring them back into the game. The visitors finally found a way past the Giants defence and Stephen Murphy with Jared Stall scoring even-strength at 58:41.
However it was Steve Saviano who made sure the Giants picked up the two Challenge Cup Group A points with an empty net finish at 59:48.
