GUINNESS® & CO today announced that Irish electronica masters Le Galaxie and Aussie rapper Iggy Azalea have been added to the line-up of Irish and international music acts, who will be performing in ticketed and surprise pubs across the island of Ireland for this year’s Arthur’s Day celebration, on 26th September.
Music fans can look forward to over 500 free music events featuring the best of Ireland’s musical talent, in local pubs across all 32 counties. As always Arthur’s Day will be a night full of surprises with acts turning up unannounced to perform in pubs across the island of Ireland, including the best and brightest of Irish and international musical talent including The Script, James Vincent McMorrow, The Original Rudeboys, Dublin chart toppers Kodaline, Meath indie rock outfit Ham Sandwich, Manic Street Preachers, Emeli Sandé, Janelle Monáe, Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro and the legendary Bobby Womack. Grab some mates and head to one of the Arthur’s Day music events taking place in a local pub near you.
Le Galaxie commented, “We can’t wait to turn up for a surprise gig somewhere in Ireland on Arthur’s Day. We learnt our trade playing in small, sweaty pubs all over Ireland. There’s nothing like literally getting face-to-face with the audience and feeding off their energy.”
Iggy Azalea said, “Are you ready Arthur’s Day?! I can’t think of a better place to play a gig than in an Irish pub. Just me, my music and a couple of hundred people in those surroundings, can’t wait!”
This year, GUINNESS will also be collaborating with publicans and Arthur Guinness Projects’ applicants to transform some local pubs into creative hubs around the island of Ireland. Hogan’s Bar in Dublin will host a lunchtime SurfingFitYoga class offering surf-inspired, yoga and fitness workouts.
The Roaring Donkey in Cobh will exhibit photography from the ‘Imageing in Cobh’ project. In Sligo, The Strand Bar will host a pop-up shop, giving locals the chance to pick up exclusive, Irish-made designs by Pretty Owls. And The Coachman, Tipperary have joined up with ‘Tipperary Food Producers Network’, to create a unique, long table dinner, cooking and showcasing the produce of local suppliers.
Also, the Home of Guinness will be transformed into a creative hub, curated by Irish award-winning creative team BLOCK T incorporating impromptu Jazz performances, design, installations and carnival sets. 500 lucky Golden Ticket holders will also be treated to an exclusive midday performance by Irish headliner act Kodaline ahead of their surprise gig in a pub that evening.
Golden Tickets for the exclusive Kodaline performance at midday in The Guinness Storehouse will be rewarded to Guinness fans all over Ireland, via Guinness Social Media, the Guinness Storehouse loyalty programme and 2FM from Monday 16th September.
