Belfast marketing communications agency, ASG, has taken home two prominent awards at the 2015 Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) NI Awards.

The PRide Awards recognise and reward outstanding creativity and best practice across a range of sectors and industries.

ASG PR was presented with a Gold Award in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) category for its work with the Northern Ireland Science Park’s ‘INVENT’ competition, searching for the newest innovations with the greatest commercial potential. The team was recognised for having increased awareness of the competition considerably, with entries in 2015 up 300% on 2013.

The judges said, “This was a very hotly contested category with lots of strong entries. This entry demonstrated good research and planning of key audiences and how best to engage with them. They developed a sustained campaign with a series of good ideas and photo opportunities and a quirky theme relating to “Back to the Future”.

“They also used a good mix of direct engagement, media and social media coverage. The campaign significantly drove up the number of entrants to INVENT 2015 and extended the profile of the competition to a national and business audience.”

ASG PR was also named the Silver winner in the Healthcare category for its work with Safefood, the all-island healthy eating and food safety promotion body. The team implemented and oversaw the hugely successful obesity campaign, “Childhood Obesity- Let’s beat it, one small step at a time.” The Safefood website averaged 4-5K visits per day- a 200% increase on the daily pre-campaign average of 2,500 visits.

Vicki Caddy, Head of PR at ASG, said, “Winning awards always means so much for our team but to win accolades which are externally judged by PR professionals from outside of Northern Ireland is extremely rewarding.

“The judges have clearly recognised our focus on delivering our clients’ objectives, and not just press clippings. The time and effort we put into each and every one of our clients’ campaigns is evident so we’re delighted that this has been recognised.”
