ArtsEkta performers are pictured soaring high above the Belfast skyline, from two towering cranes, suspended 35 metres in the air, at the live Earth Child spectacle last night (Sunday 23 August) 2026 on Titanic Slipways.
Thousands of people turned out to see this special 20th anniversary production created by ArtsEkta, Fidget Aerial Dance and acclaimed artist Gráinne Holland. Earth Child combined aerial dance, global drumming, live music, storytelling, fire, light and myth, with hundreds of performers coming together for this large-scale celebration of connection, belonging and hope. The production told the story of a child’s search for balance in a world unravelling, guided by the elemental forces of Air, Water, Fire and Earth.
The Belfast Mela Festival continues with a diverse programme of music, dance, literature, theatre, wellbeing, food and family activities across the city, culminating in the big finale Mela Day on Sunday 30 August in Botanic Gardens for the traditional Mela Day, from 12 noon to 6pm.
