Stena Line Belfast Giants (3) vs (5) Cardiff Devils – Challenge Cup Semi-Final 2nd Leg
– Tuesday 23rd February 2016, 7pm, The SSE Arena, Belfast
Stena Line Belfast Giants Captain Adam Keefe spoke about the belief in the locker room and wants the Giants fans to “be loud” for Tuesday’s Challenge Cup Semi-Final 2nd Leg vs the Cardiff Devils at The SSE Arena, face-off 7pm.
“It’s a playoff game and we believe in the dressing room that it is possible to come back and take that lead back – especially in our own arena,” stated the Captain. “We need a big start and we need to focus on being ready when the puck drops.”
Though trailing 5-3 from the 1st Leg, the Giants are in good spirits after recent wins and the addition of a few new signings,
“We are riding a few wins and our team needed that after the last month or so,” said Keefe. “Everyone feels good about themselves going into Tuesday’s game and that is a good thing. The addition of Jim (Vandermeer) has really helped our team and he makes us tougher to play against.”
A firm fans favourite, Adam Keefe knows how important of a role the Giants fans will play on Tuesday night and he had a message for the fans ahead of the big game,
“Expect a playoff atmosphere and obviously ‘be loud’ – we will feed off that energy. It is a playoff match & a trophy is on the line and so we are going to leave it all out there, regardless of the outcome everything is going to be left on the ice.”
Tickets for Tuesday’s Semi-Final are reduced to only £10 for Adults and £5 for Kids/Students/Over 65s and are on sale online now at Ticketmaster or from The SSE Arena Box Office in person or by calling (028) 9073 9074.
Derrick Walser, Head Coach:
“It’s going to be a war, no holes barred – this is a one game playoff,” said the Giants coach. “We are down by two goals and our biggest thing is to play smart and get the first goal. We have to go to the net and we have to make sure we ‘out battle’ them.”
