A late flurry of goals in the third period secured victory for Belfast Giants as they defeated Braehead Clan 4-1
There were chances from both ends in the second period as a closely fought game was being played out.
But James Desmarais found the net with a couple of minutes to go of the middle session to level things off after two periods with a breakaway that left Chris Holt in goal beaten.
Giants’ player-coach Derrick Walser found the breakaway with Clan a man down after Scott Aarssen was sent to the penalty box for roughing.
With Braehead now chasing the game, they threw caution to the wind, but conceded two goals in a frantic final minute.
Mitch Ganzak more or less clinched the win, on 59:01 with Colin Shields adding a fourth shortly after to put the icing on the cake for the home team.
