– Research by SuperValu reveals our festive wish is for help with the Christmas dinner –
A staggering 94 per cent of adults in Northern Ireland find the festive period stressful with the Christmas Dinner preparation a major gripe for one third of the population.
According to the research undertaken by local convenience retail group SuperValu, the main concerns about the Christmas Day dinner were shopping for ingredients, preparation of the meal and catering for different preferences, with 72% worrying about guests’ enjoyment.
SuperValu undertook the research as part of their Christmas ad campaign which launched this week, and identifies four types of dinner guest who are catered for on Christmas Day in Northern Ireland – the perfectionist, picky eater, gravy enthusiast and sprout lover.
The survey revealed that the majority of diners are gravy lovers, with picky eaters who would prefer to serve themselves a close second and the perfectionist who likes all portions equal in third. The traditional Christmas Dinner sprout split the vote with half claiming to be lovers and half not caring for more than one or two on their plate.
Research also identified that one of biggest desires this Christmas is for a host to receive more help with the dinner and SuperValu wants to grant that wish an extensive range of festive produce available at its 37 stores throughout Northern Ireland.
