The best of Northern Ireland’s U18 rugby players are set to square off at the 39th annual Nutty Krust Rugby Floodlit Tournament.

Players from eight teams across Northern Ireland will take part in the tournament which kicks off with a preliminary match between home team Portadown and Lisburn at 7.45pm on 7th March 2018 at Chambers Park, home of Portadown rugby.

This year’s tournament will have four quarter finals which take place on Wednesday evenings through March, leading to semi-finals and then final on Wednesday 25th April.

Northern Ireland’s leading bakery Irwin’s will return as title sponsor for the 39th consecutive year. Speaking at the tournament draw, Brian Irwin, Chairman of Irwin’s Bakery, said he is looking forward to another competitive year,

“The Nutty Krust Rugby Tournament brings together some of the best young rugby players – and is an annual highlight in our calendar at Irwin’s. As a family-owned business, with a history of baking bread for over 100 years, we are committed to supporting grassroots sports not only in Portadown but across Northern Ireland – encouraging young people to live a balance active lifestyle.

“I would like to thank the organisers and officials who make the tournament possible. The upcoming first round matches start at 7.45pm on Wednesdays throughout March at Chambers Park, and we encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the competition!”
